My heart for India started in the 1970s when I lived there for a few years with my first husband. India is where we met, fell in love with, and adopted our three children - now all amazing adults with families of their own here in the US!
Throughout the years, I have supported various organizations with a heart and a vision for India.
So in March of 2020, when the world felt like it was just beginning to turn upside down, I was a bit surprised when I felt God tug on my heart and tell me to respond to a young married man who had reached out to me from India!
This is how I met Leivon Canary Kom ("Canary")! He and his wife and their three young sons were struggling on the other side of the world to make ends meet. They were living in a friend’s “house” (if you could even call it that) in a remote area near Burma.
And in the midst of all this, Canary had heard God call him to ministry - to become a pastor! But Canary knew that he needed tools, training, and support to become a pastor.
I started researching, and God led me to Global Hope India, founded by Kevin White, a missionary organization based in North Carolina that offers ministry training and business development to pastors in India! Their mission is to help the Church to aid and train church-planting pastors in India.
By partnering with Global Hope India, we have shipped over 6,567 Bibles to Canary and his family to begin his ministry through them!
And it hasn’t ended there. Through even more prayer and the generosity of donors, and so many miracles - we have been able to secure the rights to an acre of land, build a road leading in, dig a well, and clear the space for a building - both a church facility and a future home for Canary and his family so they can serve the surrounding community!
This facility will be Shepherd’s House Ministry!
Our next project is to build this facility. And we can’t do it without your support!
It has become VERY urgent because the family who owns the house where they live now wants them to leave.
